Welcome to the Colchester Bonsai Society Web Site
The Colchester Bonsai Society was founded in June 1987, by three friends. The first meeting was held at Bury Social Club, Colchester, when 26 people attended. Later that year the club moved to St Mathews Church Hall, Parsons Heath, Colchester, where members enjoyed many famous speakers including Peter Chan, Peter Adams, Suchin Ee, Malcome Hughes and Harry Tomlinson.
In 2001 the club moved to its current meeting place, Marks Tey Parish Hall, which has excellent facilities and ample parking.
The aim of the Society is to promote the interest of Bonsai to as many people as possible. To that end new members and visitors are always welcome at monthly meetings.
For many years the Society has displayed trees at shows and other venues across Essex.
The Society's silhouette logo is reprinted from Japanese Art of Minature Trees and Landscapes by Yoshimura & Halford, by special permission of Chas. E. Tuttle Co., Rutland, VT, USA.
